As a core first wave Race Online 2012 partner, TalkTalk’s dedication and commitment to helping achieve a fully networked nation has been amazing. Through a variety of customer facing initiatives, TalkTalk aims to get a staggering 100,000 new users online by 2012. But we also need your help…

In early July, we at Race Online 2012 will publish our ‘Manifesto for a Networked Nation’ – an annual report that suggests how and why we should strive to achieve a 100% networked nation.

Importantly, the ‘Manifesto for a Networked Nation’ suggests that by focusing on using the IT infrastructure we already have in communities and using it to train more people on the internet we can improve the life chances of the 10 million people in the UK who have never been online, particularly the four million who are also socially and economically excluded.

The Manifesto outlines how a combination of private, voluntary and public sector initiatives to reach and include as many of today’s digitally excluded adults as possible would be an unstoppable force for progress in Britain and help support the evolving ‘Big Society’.

In the run-up to the publication of our Manifesto, we are asking as many companies as possible to sign-up to be Race Online 2012 partners and create a digital promise that helps educate, train or inspire people to get online. Race Online 2012 wants any organisation of any size to get involved and help tackle the issue. From encouraging business partners to sign up, to teaching friends and family to get online, or by donating old IT equipment locally – there are opportunities for all businesses to make a difference. It’s simple to sign up and it only takes five minutes to register.

Our aim at Race Online 2012 is to get 10,000 companies, large and small, on board over the course of the campaign, but I would personally love to see 1000 partners signed up before we publish our Manifesto in July. Please click on this link raceonline2012.org/get-involved to become an official Race Online 2012 partner, where you can explain what your organisation is doing or can do to help. We are all better off when everyone is online.
